2014: Our favourite bits

With the start of a New Year just ahead of us, here at GIPD, we’re loving taking a look back at what this past year has brought us – the new things we’ve done, places we’ve traveled, and people we’ve met along the way. 2014 has been a good’un.

So we thought we would share some of our favourite moments of this year with you.

Falling even more in love with Europe

If you’ve read some of our previous posts, you’ll know how obsessed we are with Europe. Some of our favourite trips have been within Europe, and with most cities only a few hours travel away from us, we’ve taken a few more trips again this year, including visiting this magical castle in the Bavarian village of Hohenschwangau that is said to be the inspiration Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle.

Travelling to the States

This year, we travelled to North America, visiting both New York and Las Vegas while we were there. Though they are both completely different, we were so mesmerised by both cities, from the flashing bright lights of Vegas, to the beauty of the New York skyline. When can we go back?! You can find some of our posts from our American travels here.

Exploration at Home

We love to travel, but this year, we decided to focus more of our time of exploring our own ‘hometown’ so to speak. There are so many magical places to discover within the UK and we travelled to quite a few of them! You can see some of our British travels here.

Fashion Show Fun

Back in September, we were invited by the lovely people at Cabot Circus Bristol, to attend the Cabot Circus AFF show, a catwalk show showcasing new A/W trends from a variety of high street and designer stores. We had such a good time taking in all the amazing new styles (and treating ourselves to a few cocktails afterwards too!).

Focus on Feminism

Here at GIPD we love seeing girls inspiring and raising up other girls, and this year was a great one for feminism. From Emma Watson’s awe-inspiring speech at the UN ‘He for She’ campaign, to the rise of women like Mindy Kaling and Lena Dunham, there were so many exciting things that happened for feminism in 2014 – and we’re hoping this continues to grow and change society in 2015.
