Glastonbury will always be famous for it’s incredible festival, known as one of the greatest events you can experience. People travel from all over the world to see some of the biggest names in music, perform on farmland in the middle of our beautiful county, Somerset.
I say, that people are missing a trick if they don’t take the time to explore the town to take in all of it’s ‘weird and wonderful’ ways. There’s also so much to learn about it’s rich and mysterious history; particularly the mysteries of King Arthur.
On this trip to Glastonbury we wandered the streets to visit the unique shops and experience local cafes complete with, of course, a local cider or two!
There are so many hidden gems in Glastonbury and it’s known locally for it’s impressive interior shops, offering unique and quirky items. It also offers a lot of spiritual experiences and places offering a mystical and intriguing gifts.
We also visited ‘Glastonbury Abbey’, rather impressive ruins of what once was a grand monastery. The ruins are grade I listed and open for the public to explore at a small fee.
As you wander through the grounds it really dawns on you just how towering the original buildings would have been…
The perfect way to spend an afternoon in Somerset!
Next time we’ll be making our way up Glastonbury Tor, which offers some of the best views over the Somerset Levels- get ready to add a location to your bucketlist!
